Press Association Sport and Football DataCo

Their role is to collect, collate, market and distribute every element of data from the DataCo leagues to the world. This has seen them gather and supply official data from over 25,000 football matches in the UK alone. In addition, they also act as official distributor of fixtures for the leagues.

Player Tracking and Football Live Systems

Press Association Sport has always led the way in football data gathering. A decade ago, the unique Football Live system was launched to provide real-time data, statistics and analysis of football matches as they happen. The service covers every match in the top five divisions of England and the top four leagues in Scotland.

For the 2011/12 football season, Press Association Sport launched next generation data for the English Premier League – again leading the way in football data.
Harnessing the Venatrack Player Tracking system, the new data enables individual and team performances to be analysed as never before. The next generation data includes everything the stats-hungry marketplace needs, as fans and the industry demand more analysis and information about the top players and teams.

This next-generation data supplements the core football information that the Football Live system has provided for many years, with ex-professional footballers employed to work as analysts at every game.

From the stadium, the analysts describe the action to an operator over the phone, who then enters this information into a database. The match data can be delivered as a live, real-time service or stored and aggregated to provide other post-match and cumulative services.

Live goals, match statistics and results are delivered to broadcasters, websites and mobile sites around the world. This data powers an in-running text commentary service used by leading organisations, such as the BBC. In addition to this live service, Press Association Sport deliver feeds and page ready packages of results and statistics to a range of media clients - including the print industry, sponsors, governing bodies & sports federations, broadcast, online and digital media organisations.
